Speaker:
Tristan Perich
Speaker:
Lesley Flanigan

COLLISIONcollective is proud to welcome Tristan Perich and his performance group Loud Objects, joined by guest artist Lesley Flanigan, to COLLISIONcollusion #64. Tristan is a prolific artist and composer working in the dual realms of 1-bit music and traditional instrumentation, and his interests align very closely with those of COLLISIONcollective. A native of NYC, Tristan is visiting with his ensemble as part of the ongoing Beeline Festival at the Broad Institute (see http://www.beelinefestival.com/schedule.html). Lesley, a vocalist and instrument builder, performs using her own speaker feedback instruments.

In the talk, Tristan and Lesley will discuss their own work as well as the Loud Objects. Their various projects all involve low level electronics and look at how abstract systems interact with our more physical, analogue world, where logic can't be taken for granted, and sound sources are "mixed" with air particles. This will be a great chance to get an inside perspective on his work in preparation for the performance following on Friday the 17th with Ensemble Robot + Loud Objects 8PM WORLD PREMIERE of Concert Aria for Obbligato Violin and Robots by computer music pioneer Paul Lansky.
